About Me

Nikki 2017

Nikki Mould (MFHT, FHT, ITEC, IIHHT, VTCT, Raw Dip.)

As a fully qualified and insured Sports and Holistic Massage Therapist & Aromatherapist, I am trained to use essential oils and massage both clinically (taking a more analytical, symptoms based western approach using pathophysiology and anatomy and physiology) and holistically (using Traditional Chinese Medicine Five Element diagnosis and treatment principles to balance the flow of Qi using acupressure point and meridian work).  I have also added Hot & Cold Stone Therapy, M Technique, Reiki and Myofascial Release to my practice.

I take great pride in providing a specifically tailored treatment to meet the individual needs of each of my clients, at that particular time.  I treat people, not just their physical symptoms.  As a result, no two treatments will be ever be exactly the same, as essential oils, selected massage techniques, acupressure points and meridian work will vary.

I originally qualified as a Complementary Health Therapist in 2004 and my focus has always been to provide a professional and outstanding service to nurture and support my clients on their own,, individual journeys to improved health and wellbeing.

I am a full member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), the UK’s largest and leading professional association for therapists, which requires ongoing continuing professional development to ensure my skills and knowledge are kept up to date and am listed on their register.

When I first began having complementary health treatments in my mid 20’s to deal with work stress, low moods and chronic pain from a whiplash injury, I experienced first hand how powerfully healing they can be.  It was also the first step I took to making healthier diet and lifestyle choices.  This was a turning point in my life and one that ultimately led to a complete career and lifestyle change.  I am now dedicated to helping others achieve the same results and benefits.

The importance of the mind-body connection is now widely recognised and well documented through the science of psychoneuroimmunology (which studies how the mind affects the body and our immunity), the wellbeing of one directly influences the other.

Stress-related disorders are now having a major impact on health and wellbeing with stress itself now recognised as a key cause of disease in the western world, not just a symptom.  Indeed, it is becoming increasingly apparent that reducing and managing stress effectively is crucial to maintaining good physical and mental health in both the short and longer term.

Over the years, to manage stress and maintain balance, I have benefitted from regular aromatherapy massage and ad hoc reflexology, acupuncture, homeopathy, reiki and sports massage.  I have also found mindful meditation practices, yoga and other exercise hugely helpful in managing stress, anxiety and low mood/SAD.  The energy and intention of the therapist providing the treatment has also proved to be incredibly important.

In addition to treating Stress, I have a particular interest in Women’s Health issues and providing support through the perimenopause and menopausal stages in life.  It is a subject still sadly shrouded in mystery and confusion and can cause much unnecessary physical and emotional pain, suffering and heartache.  Each woman’s journey through this phase is unique, just like her.  As the root cause of many symptoms experienced at this time are partly physical and partly psychological, with stress again playing a huge role, I firmly believe, that for many of us, preventative action early on and optimum health, exercise and nutrition can provide valuable support and help ease us through this natural transition period.

Being a busy mother of three, I have first hand experience of just how difficult it can be to justify taking time out and spending money on yourself.  I have learned, the hard way, that to be able to fully nurture and support others, you, yourself, must be fully nurtured and supported.  It is impossible to be there for others if you are running on ’empty’.

The benefits of exercise on physical and mental wellbeing has led to my love of Yoga, Pilates, weight resistance training and running and my interest in Sports Massage and Myofascial Release Therapy and how it can support and improve mental and physical performance.

I am constantly looking to develop my skills and add to my knowledge to further help the clients that I treat.  As a result of treating many clients with chronic pain (both physical and emotional), I have studied and qualified in Reiki and have gained several certificates in Myofascial Release Therapy with MFR UK to advance my skills in both direct and indirect myofascial release techniques.

If you would like to take the first step on the path to better physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing, please call me today to book an appointment.  Taking care of yourself is not a luxury, it is a necessity.  We can start your journey together.
